Bound

It's that time again. We're gearing up for the 15th Leeds International Artist Book fair and this year I've been asked to join the organising team! And as usual we have the annual Artist Book Collective show which invites book artists from around the world to submit to an exhibition alongside the book fair.

This year's theme is 'Bound' and, unlike previous years, we'll be sticking (a bit) closer to
more 'conventional' ideas of what a book is, although feel free to send your weird and wonderful suggestions.

Bound simple past tense and past participle of bind.
1. secured within a cover, as a book
2. something that limits, confines, or restrains
3. inseparably connected with, devoted or attached to
4. tied; in bonds
5. limit or boundary eg. within the bounds of reason

From exploration of experimental binding techniques to more conceptual interpretations, such as the book as a ritual object, this new exhibition will investigate the notion of 'bound' in its myriad forms. It is hoped that this years exhibition will be able to tour, to promote both the collective, and the individual works shown in the exhibition, and we will be pursuing funding to try to achieve this. Therefore, please do not enter work that is not available for long term loan.

Suitable works submitted for past exhibitions which are still in the ABC collection will also be eligible for entry. Please send images/enquiries/proposals to sianlouisegriffiths@gmail.com by 20th January 2012
